We conducted a little Q&A with each photographer and asked them to select a few of their favorite shots to be featured here.
Q. How do you describe your technique at Powers Studios, and what do you believe sets you apart from other photographers?
A. We make everything about our client. From customizing the packages to make sense for their day and budget to matching them based on their style preferences to the best photographer on our team. We believe in high quality work and great customer service. After 18 years in business we still specialize in weddings and are experts at them!
Q. What do you consider your "signature shot"? How do you set it up?
A. We do not have a signature shot, however many couples love our starry night photos (shown at right). This is a very tricky photo because so many factors come in to play: timing, lighting, weather, location…makes for a very special shot.
Q. What is your technique for getting a camera-shy subject to photograph well?
A. We think it is important for the couple to meet with their photographer a couple times at least before the wedding day. That way they can plan, talk ideas, and get to know one another so it is easier to be comfortable!
Q. Was there a particular wedding you had the most fun shooting and why (at the Empress or anywhere else)?
A. We think every wedding is amazing and unique which is why we stress matching the needs/preferences of each couple. We are very lucky to travel all over the world as well so those photos are especially fun!
Q. What would you say is the biggest challenge for a photographer on the wedding day?
A. There are many challenges on a wedding day, it's one of the most important days in each couples life! There is a detailed timeline you need to stick to, there are specific photos that must be captured, the weather can limit options, etc…it is important to hire a photographer that has great experience at weddings specifically so they are prepared for these challenges and keep the day an amazing experience!
Q. What is the best thing about working as a photographer at The Empress Estate?
A. So many options for photos! Great outdoor and indoor spaces that are a beautiful backdrop for the couple.
